Meter is sensitive enough to measure all the way down to 'background' Gamma radiation which means it can read radiation in food or water. Measures down to 1 microRad. It does not get lower than that. [ITS A SURVEY METER] A Survey meter is a 'Geiger counter' designed to read high levels of Gamma radiation from nuclear weapon fallout or nuclear plant emergencies. These are high levels that WILL KILL you in hours or days. Most 'mircroRad' meters limit out on high radiation readings and even give you a ZERO reading if the levels are too high! NOT THIS METER. It reads radiation from radiation in food all the way up to radiation that will give you a lethal dose in 30 minutes. [ITS A DOSIMETER] Most radiation meters just tell you what you are getting right now, not what you got total. This meter keeps track of all of the different levels received to give a TOTAL DOSE of radiation so you know how much total radiation was received.
